LIVING WITH PURPOSE

It’s time to be realistic.  And, reality is not a bad thing.  How can we make plans for tomorrow without being realistic about where we are today?  One thing is for sure we are not where we need to be.

The Israelites could have stayed on the wrong side of the Red Sea and the results would have been disastrous.  They toyed with the idea when they told Moses in Egypt Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians  (Exod. 14:12b).  But, when they obeyed the results were great because, not only were they delivered (Exod. 14:13),  it wasn’t until they obeyed that the Scriptures say And when the Israelites saw the great power the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him. . .(Exod 14:31).

There are two things I know for sure:  1) Every single person who comes through the doors of the CSC is important in the eyes of God.  We must treat them as though we know this is true.  Now for number 2) Every single person who comes through the doors of the CSC is a possibility for Jesus.  Again, we must treat them as though we know this is true.

The Lord has blessed us with a very real presence in this community.   We have seen evidence after evidence of the Lord working in this place.  In Exod. 17:7, the Israelites again tested the Lord with words:  Is the Lord among us or not? They just didn’t get it for the long run.  Finally, the greater part of that generation died in the wilderness due to their unbelief/disobedience (Heb. 3:18-19).

What can we learn from all this?  God made it clear he is not willing that any perish but that all come to repentance (II Pet. 3:9).  He is also clear as to how to reach the lost and dying.  Jesus died and was raised and he still wants us to preach repentance and forgiveness of sins to all nations (Lu. 24:47).  How do you think we are doing with all that right here in Granbury?  Let’s be realistic. . . and get involved with his mission for us in our community (Matt. 5:14). He has a place for each of us. Let us help you with yours.  h
